All weekly activities hosted by Claridon Congregational United Church of Christ. On Friday, along with the daily lessons, the children will present a program telling of what they learned. SUNDAY. Both churches will combine worship at Lighthouse United Methodist Church (14780 Mayfield Road) and present the program during that worship service at 10 AM. At Vacation Bible School LEARN more about the LOVE of GOD for all of us. 2010 Vacation Bible School, Miracle at Midnight, is based on the Christmas story. Your children will LOVE learning the Bible Stories through song, drama and more. Vacation Bible School is FREELY offered to the community. There is NO CHARGE. All are welcome.

FREE OPPORTUNITY for ADULTS: In addition, workshops will be offered to parents, care-givers, orther family members and interested community folks on topics range from Internet Safety and Financial Management on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings while Vacation Bible School is in session with the kids. This opportunity for adults will take place at Lighthouse UMC which is air-conditioned. Complete details will be handed out Monday evening, August 2, first day of VBS.

Each year, Vacation Bible School includes a Mission Project.
This year we will be collecting Care Package items for our service men and women through the USO (United Service Organizations). The USO is the link between the American people and military personnel. Through the USO, we can show our appreciation and express our gratitude to our military. The USO, conceived in 1941 in response to a mandate from President Roosevelt, strives to bring a touch of home to our men and women in uniform until each and every one can come home. Below, you will find a list of needed items.
TOLIETRIES: Eye Drops, Saline Nasal Spray, Tylenol, Tums, Toothbrushes/Toothpaste, Antibiotic Ointment, Body Wash/Shower Gel, Body/Foot Powder, Shampoo, Skin Cream/Lotion, Travel Size Baby Wipes, Bug Repellant (Off Deep Woods Towlettes). PERSONAL ITEMS: White or Black Socks, Eyeglass Repair Kits, CD’s, DVD’s, Small Games, Puzzle Books, Blank CD’s, Dark Hair Elastics, Dark Bandanas, Hand and Foot Warmers, Batteries (all sizes). SNACKS: Beef Jerky, Slim Jims, Raisins, Granola Bars, Nuts (small packs), Sunflower Seeds, Trail Mix, Small Cans of Fruit, Tuna, Instant Oatmeal, Powdered Drink Mixes (Singles), Hot Chocolate. MOST REQUESTED: Cards and Letters of encouragement. Drawings and Cards from Children. PLEASE NOTE: SMALL, TRAVEL-SIZE ITEMS are ideal for the SOLDIERS TO CARRY on PATROL and STORE on their person. During VBS, we will have Classes for Adults both parents and others, at Lighthouse UMC, east on #322, past #608. Tuesday: Sara Shininger talks about Job and Family Services programs, from Financial Literacy to Help Me Learn. Wednesday: The Parent Project with Tracy Jordan. Maybe you or a family you know would benefit from Parent Project classes to improve family harmony. Thursday: Janis McLaughlin from Lake-Geauga Recovery will tell us about sweet alcohol drinks marketed to our children and other underage drinking. Friday: Janis will return with internet and electronic safety for families. Each evening's class is at 6:30. There will be handouts and time for questions. The Lighthouse sanctuary is air-conditioned and you will be done in plenty of time to get back to greet your child at VBS.
